Manoj Kumar was returning from the temple, told how the superhit song of ‘Upkar’ became ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’

Recalling an attention-grabbing anecdote associated to the superhit song ‘Meri Desh Ki Dharti’ from the movie ‘Upkar’, Manoj Kumar says, ‘This song was composed in some attention-grabbing approach. Actually lyricist Gulshan Bawra and I had gone to the temple to worship. After that, after we had been returning again in the automobile, Gulshan was singing ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti Sona Ugle’. After two-three years once I made ‘Upkar’, I went to music composer Kalyanji and narrated the script. I known as Gulshan house and told him the entire scenario. I keep in mind the song that I heard Gulshan buzzing for 2-3 years? This song received caught in my thoughts? And I needed this song to be included in the movie nicely. And thus this excellent song became a component of the movie.

Manoj additional explains, ‘Let the jawans fill their pockets, converse with happiness, didn’t like the dialects? I dropped it from the song ‘Upkar’ in my movie. Instead, we had ‘My nation’s land, gold gleamed diamonds and pearls’. Both Kalyanji and Gulshan had been hesitant. He stated that the ‘Mukhda’ of a song can’t be of one line. But I was adamant on this. After an hour Gulshan sitting in the subsequent room jumped up and stated, ‘That’s nice. Every filmmaker whereas writing a screenplay comes at a historic level in the story the place she or he feels {that a} scene could be narrated musically. That place is given to the lyricist and defined. This is how ‘my nation’s land’ occurred.

‘I at all times had the songs first, then the tunes. Gulshan wrote one other song ‘Har Khushi Hai Woh’ in Upkar. He couldn’t write the total song as he needed to take my brother to school in Ajmer. Gulshan himself had told the media that the second verse of ‘Har Khushi Hai Woh’ was written by Aziz Kaifi and Manoj Kumar.

Finally Manoj says, “Gulshan Bawra is alive in each phrase of ‘Meri Desh ki Dharti’. When Mahendra Kapoor ji, who sang ‘Meri Desh Ki Dharti’, handed away, our former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stated that he’ll at all times be with us. He will at all times be remembered for ‘Meri Desh Ki Dharti’. It is at all times unhappy to assume that the folks related to this song, Kalyanji, Mahendra Kapoor and Gulshan Bawra aren’t any extra with us.
